LA VILLA

The Origins

1877

During the autumn of 1877, a significant event took place in the history of the Villa. Count Francesco Guicciardini married Princess Luísa Strozzi, marking a union that intertwined two noble families. As part of the dowry from the Strozzi family, the Villa and its surrounding lands were granted to the Guicciardini descendants.

Historical studies conducted on documents from the Guicciardini library in Florence, dating back to the Capuchin Monastery, shed light on the origins of the current Villa Cappuccina. These documents confirm that the very walls of the Villa date back to that period. Surprisingly, they indicate that the Villa was originally established as the Capuchin Monastery, which was later transformed into the Villa.

Although the term "reduction" appears in historical documents, it is more correctly interpreted as "reconstruction", indicating that the Villa Cappuccina has undergone renovations and improvements while maintaining its essential character. Today, the Villa stands as a testimony of its rich history, an elegant eighteenth-century building that has preserved its heritage over the centuries and next to the Villa Torre took shape the current Country Resort with restaurant, spa and conference center.
